Renee has served in city, county, and state government.  Highlights from her years of service are listed below:

Mayor of Loganville

  • Sworn into office in 19??.
  • Relocated utilities for the widening of Highway 78 from two lanes to four lanes in 1986
  • Built a freestanding library
  • Initiated senior citizen services and built a senior center on Highway 78
  • Expanded wastewater treatment facility
  • Renovated cemetaries
  • Improved fire and police protection services
  • Built new city hall

Gwinnett County Commissioner - District ?

  • Sworn into office in 19??.
  • Built and improved parks - Bethesda Park and Senior Center, Lawrenceville Senior
    Center, George Peirce Park, Tribble Mill Park
  • Built libraries - Elizabeth Williams, Five-Forks Trickum, Lawrenceville Central Library
  • Built roads - completed Ronald Reagan Parkway; started and finished Sugarloaf Parkway (where I rode horses as a girl, and named); started widening of Peachtree Industrial and flyovers; numerous road widening and paving projects in Northern Gwinnett
  • Built and expanded wastewater treatment facilities - F.Wayne Hill Reclamation Facility, Yellow River Treatment Facility, broadend capacity in Northern Gwinnett with increased pumping stations, initiated permitting for withdrawal of water from Lake Lanier
  • Education: in 1994 led efforts with Commissioner Tommie Hughes to acquire 400 acres of land for the future building of a college in Gwinnett County (Georgia Gwinnett University)
  • Social Services: started two non-profits to benefit Gwinnett residents - AID Gwinnett and Friends of Gwinnett County Senior Services; built Lillian Webb children's center - Lawrenceville; started Gwinnett Coalition for Human Services
  • Board member of Gwinnett's first ethnic diversity program
  • Board member of the Gwinnett Rockdale Newton Board of Health
  • Board member of Gwinnett Land and Soil Conservation unit
  • Built in 1992 The Gwinnett Civic and Arts Center on Sugarloaf Parkway
